Preventative Measures for Reliable Performance
The fuel system is one of the most critical and vulnerable components of a wheel loader, particularly in dusty or harsh operating environments. Issues such as difficult starting, unstable idling, weak power, and black smoke emissions are often directly attributed to fuel system blockage, water contamination, or filter degradation.
Daily Maintenance Protocol:
Fuel Quality Control: Always use clean, high-quality diesel fuel meeting manufacturer standards. Impure fuel or water-contaminated fuel can severely damage the fuel injection pump and injectors.
Water Separator Drainage: Drain the fuel water separator daily before startup. If water is frequently present, inspect the fuel tank for rust or ingress and clean as necessary.
Filter Replacement: Replace fuel filters strictly according to operating hours. Clogged filters restrict fuel flow, causing power loss and engine shaking. Use genuine parts and ensure proper sealing to prevent air intrusion.
System Bleeding: After filter replacement, bleed the fuel system to remove trapped air to ensure easy starting.
Line Inspection: Regularly check fuel lines and joints for cracks or looseness. Leaks waste fuel and introduce air, causing unstable engine operation.
Proactive Operation Tips:
Avoid long periods of idling and overloading, as these behaviors increase carbon deposits and accelerate system wear.
Proper fuel system maintenance is key to maintaining stable power and significantly reducing the risk of sudden breakdowns.
