Bobcat Company has introduced the "Bob-Dock" hands-free hydraulic attachment mounting system for its M2-Series T630, T650, T740, and T770 compact track loaders, the S630, S650, S740, and S770 skid-steer loaders, and the A770 all-wheel steer loader. In landscaping and utility construction, operators frequently switch between attachments-buckets, grapples, augers, brooms, and trenchers-multiple times per day. Traditional hydraulic coupling requires the operator to dismount, kneel beside the loader lift arm, and manually connect high-pressure quick couplers by hand. This exposes the operator to pinch hazards between the lift arm and the attachment frame, and to residual hydraulic pressure that can spray high-velocity oil during connection.
The Bob-Dock system integrates a "Power-Latch Hydraulic Docking Plate" mounted to the lift arm's quick-attach frame. All auxiliary hydraulic hoses are pre-routed to the docking plate, which features a spring-loaded poppet face. When the operator backs the loader toward an equipped attachment, the docking plate engages the attachment's matching receiver. A series of mechanical and hydraulic interlocks automatically aligns and locks both the mechanical quick-attach pins and the hydraulic quick couplers simultaneously, without the operator ever leaving the cab.
The engineering innovation is the "Residual-Pressure Vent Logic." Before the mechanical pins engage, the system automatically vents any trapped pressure in the attachment's hydraulic hoses through an internal bleed circuit, ensuring the couplers can slide together without requiring the operator to force a pressurized coupling. The docking plate's onboard RFID tag reader also identifies which attachment is mounted. The ECU automatically loads the correct hydraulic flow and pressure profile for that specific attachment-for instance, limiting flow to 23 gpm for a sweeper or enabling 4061 psi Super Flow for a cold planer-eliminating the common operator error of over-speeding a low-flow attachment or under-powering a high-flow one. This automated attachment management reduces daily attachment-change time by 40% and prevents the hose-routing errors that previously caused premature attachment hydraulic seal failure.
