IEA Energy Efficiency Conference: speed up the energy efficiency process immediately to cope with the energy crisis and achieve the climate goals

Jun 10, 2022

From June 7 to 9, jointly organized by the International Energy Agency and the Danish Ministry of climate, energy and utilities, Danfoss, as the only enterprise partner, held the Seventh Annual Conference on energy efficiency of the International Energy Agency in the headquarters city of Danfoss, sennaburg. Energy, environment and climate ministers, industry and civil society leaders from all over the world gathered in this small town in Southern Denmark to discuss how to promote the rapid implementation of energy efficiency solutions.

The conference will focus on how to quickly take measures to reduce energy consumption, so as to reduce energy costs, reduce dependence on energy imports, promote the achievement of climate goals, support employment and promote economic growth. The International Energy Agency issued an analysis report during the conference, emphasizing the important role of energy efficiency measures, especially in mitigating the soaring energy prices, strengthening energy security and addressing climate change.

Fatih Birol, director general of the International Energy Agency, said in his speech that "energy efficiency is the key solution to the many urgent challenges facing the world. It can make the energy supply economical, safe and more sustainable. We need to take immediate action to collectively step on the accelerator to accelerate the implementation of energy efficiency programs."

Dan J ? rgensen, Minister of climate, energy and utilities of Denmark, said in his speech, "now we should consider how to implement more energy efficiency solutions and technologies in the world. The participation of energy and climate leaders from all over the world in this conference is an important step in the right direction together."

Official Xingjian, President and CEO of Danfoss group, said in his speech, "If we want to achieve the climate goals and curb global warming, we must pay attention to energy efficiency. According to the International Energy Agency's net zero emission plan, one third of the total carbon emission reduction required in the past decade needs to be achieved through energy efficiency. The good news is that there are ready-made solutions that can help all industries improve energy efficiency. We need to take immediate action because of the energy we save Source is the greenest energy. "

June 8 was the main meeting day of the conference. The participants discussed the future of buildings, the role of energy consumption behavior and how to promote the implementation of energy efficiency through financing. On June 9, a special closed door meeting will be held. Ministers will share best practices on how to promote the energy efficiency process. The city of sennaburg also organized a number of technical exhibitions so that participants could visit and learn about the successful cases of energy efficiency schemes.

Danfoss supports China's energy efficiency improvement program

Further improving energy efficiency is of great significance to promoting China's high-quality development. Energy efficiency is the most potential and economic way to reduce emissions, and it is also one of the most important ways to achieve China's "double carbon goals".

In response, Xu Yang, President of Danfoss China, said: "the government, the industry and the public should work together to promote the importance of energy efficiency issues and promote the large-scale application of energy efficiency solutions in China. We will continue to share the world's leading energy efficiency solutions and green development concepts with our Chinese partners, promote the green transformation of the industry and help China achieve its' double carbon goal '."

Danfoss China factory stepped up the deployment, made full use of energy efficiency solutions, optimized the energy system of production and operation with the operation mode of market economy to improve energy efficiency, and successfully created the carbon neutralization practice of Danfoss China factory. Compared with 2016, Danfoss China factory has improved energy efficiency by 57%, reduced energy intensity by 51% and reduced carbon emission intensity by 34%. This case has become one of the key cases displayed at this energy efficiency conference.

Analysis report of the International Energy Agency - the important value of emergency actions in the field of energy efficiency

The report points out that doubling the current global energy intensity improvement to 4% per year, compared with the path based on the current policy environment, it is possible to avoid the final energy consumption of 950billion joules per year by the end of this decade. This is equivalent to China's total energy use in a year.

Energy efficiency initiatives will also significantly reduce global energy spending.

For example, based on the current policy settings, if energy efficiency measures are taken quickly, household energy costs can be saved as much as $650billion per year by the end of this decade. The total amount of natural gas saved in the world will be equivalent to four times the total amount of natural gas imported by the EU from Russia last year, and the reduced oil consumption will reach nearly 30million barrels / day. Compared with today, the coordinated promotion of energy efficiency means around the world will create 10million new jobs, especially in the fields of building renovation, manufacturing and transportation infrastructure.

The latest analysis report of the International Energy Agency shows that the rapid adoption of energy efficiency measures will bring a lot of development opportunities to all economic sectors in the world. There are many ready-made energy efficiency technologies in the market, which will significantly reduce the operating cost after implementation, so that the investment can be quickly recovered, especially at the moment of high energy prices. By 2030, about one third of the energy demand can be effectively reduced by deploying energy-efficient air conditioners, automobiles and other equipment, while one fifth of the energy demand can be reduced by switching to heat pumps, electric vehicles and other electrification means, while the application of digital technology and more efficient materials in the industrial field will solve most of the remaining energy demand.
