Strong rise of environmentally friendly coatings, Chen Yang water paint leading green water and green hills

Jul 25, 2018

At 7:30 pm on July 6th, the night of the city of Baoding, four heavy trucks that were about to go to Luoyang stopped in front of the workshop. Within a week, this is the fourth time the drivers have run to Henan. Liu Rui, a warehouse keeper who helped to count up, said he had worked in the factory for more than 10 years, which was the busiest summer.

Take the road of ecological priority and green development. Under the benign interaction between industry ecological change and market demand, the development of environment-friendly industry will usher in a new opportunity. In 2018, Hebei vigorously promoted the spirit of the sahhan dam. The environment-friendly coatings enterprises, represented by the morning sun, had a strong rise and accelerated the "oil transfer" in the coating industry, which has become a miniature of China's industrial structure adjustment and the acceleration of the ecological field.

The defence of the blue sky is not central

It has been widely used in several dozens of industries such as mechanical manufacturing, transportation, light industry, chemical industry, construction and so on, making paint become an indispensable functional material in the operation of the national economy. Especially in the past 10 years, China's urbanization accelerated, the demand for coatings continued to rise. In the past 2006-2016 years, the compound annual growth rate of China's coatings industry has reached 14.1%, which has laid a hidden danger for China's air pollution for many years.

In the past few decades, the paint with Tian Na water (also known as banana water) as a diluent has always been the absolute possessor of the paint market. However, paint is not only carcinogenic, flammable and explosive, but also seriously pollute the atmosphere. Experts from the China Chemical Society said the overuse of paint makes the VOCs emissions of the paint industry account for 18.5% of the total emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in China, becoming an important "killer of the atmosphere".

According to the air quality status issued by the Ministry of environmental protection in 2017, the index of inhaled particulate matter (PM10), fine particles (PM2.5) and sulfur dioxide can be decreased after the AQI situation in the northern region. Even in the heavily criticized Hebei, the average PM2.5 concentration in 2017 was 65 micrograms per cubic meter, which is still 7.1% lower than in previous years.

However, the average number of fine days in 338 cities and prefectures is close to 80%, which is 0.8 percentage points lower than that in 2016.  Because of the increase in the number of ozone exceeding the standard, even if the weather is fine, it is hard to get a "good day". Experts believe that the VOCs emission control is the key cause, the high VOCs content of the air, after a certain intensity of sunlight, under the photochemical reaction, the formation of serious ozone pollution. With the advent of midsummer, this problem will beset the entire North China land.

In addition to the invisible pollution of ozone, VOCs is also one of the important causes of haze. Through the PM2.5 source analysis, a large part of it is the fine particles produced two times from the artificial emission of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, VOCs, ammonia and PM particles. This is the most important air pollutant in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Beijing Tianjin Hebei and other regions.  Although it greatly facilitates production and life, it always threatens people's health, safety and ecological environment. One side is an angel, the other is a devil. It becomes the stereotype of paint.

In view of the high VOCs emission of the paint, the environmental protection department issued a series of "atmospheric ten" "standard for the limit value of volatile organic compounds in architectural coatings and adhesives" and the "13th Five-Year" program for the prevention and control of volatile organic pollutants. The implementation of the policy is in place.

Water paint as water thinner, VOCs emissions are very low, in the aggressive oil to water tide, as a substitute for paint began to rise rapidly.

Great profits are ecology

"Fight for the future and think for the children." The next morning, at 7:40 in the morning, in the lobby of the Chengyang water lacquer building, Liu Shanjiang, the chairman of the morning sun water paint, and all the staff gathered together. He told reporters that this is a 20 year old ceremony, which is both vigilant and inspiring.

Originally, before the establishment of Chen Yang water paint, Liu Shanjiang has been engaged in paint, glass and other building materials trade. Though he has made considerable profits, he is always worried that he will worry about the bucket of paint in the warehouse. It will burn and burst. "It's not easy to see the damage that paint brings to the brushing workers," he said.

Visiting the United States, he found the environmental protection outlet for painting -- water paint. At that time, the water paint market on the other side of the ocean had just taken shape, and large enterprises gradually entered, and the paint was gradually abandoned. Other places, such as Japan and Europe. In China, the paint that has been abandoned by developed countries has quickly entered China to seize the market. It is very popular in the ring of "foreign brand", and the paint industry has a high speed of development. At this point, as long as we are firmly in the industry, we will be able to win the golden day. But knowing the dangers of paint, Liu Shanjiang had made up his mind to produce our own national water lacquer.

When almost everyone objected, Liu Shanjiang insisted on his environmental beliefs. He formulated a sound strategic vision, patiently talking about the conscience, social responsibility, worker's health and ecological environment with the people around him. In the end, he persevered in getting results. In 1998, Chen Yang began developing and producing waterborne coatings.

However, the domestic demand for environmental protection is not so fast. Before the 2008 Olympics, it was not a big opportunity for development. Liu Shanjiang told reporters that under the paint of the encirclement, the morning sun paint can only pay more sales cost, put more products into scientific research, step by step bite the tooth for more than 10 years.

In 2015, before the "9. 3" military parade, Chen Yang water paint became the paint supplier of the Tiananmen tower. In October 1st of the same year, the state formally charges VOCs emissions. Subsequently, the first and second tier cities began to restrict the production and use of paint, and the relevant environmental policies were becoming tighter. Since the beginning of 2017, a large number of small and medium-sized paint enterprises have been eliminated because of environmental policies and consumer markets. As in Europe and the United States, large enterprises are accelerating into the water paint market. A water paint era is coming.

Data show that since January 2016, more than 50% of China's coating industry's new production line is water paint production line. During this period, the industrial garden of thousand acres of water paint with an annual output of 1 million tons of Chen Yang water paint is most noticeable. Today, plus the morning Yang water paint headquarters and Bo Ye factory area, Chen Yang water paint overall planning capacity of 1 million 250 thousand tons, is Asia's largest full water paint production line.

"The nineteen big reports put forward that" the construction of ecological civilization is in the contemporary era and benefits for a long time ". As an enterprise representative from the industrial front, I shoulder the heavy responsibility. It has been a great encouragement for me to adhere to the water paint for 20 years. To arouse the blue sky and decorate the magnificent mountains and rivers of the motherland, this career is of special significance. Liu Shanjiang said.

Technology leads a dream

As Liu Shanjiang spoke, he led reporters to the three floor of Chen Yang building, China water paint research institute. It is led by the China Institute of chemical engineering, which is subordinate to the Ministry of industry and information. It is committed to the production and research platform of water lacquer R & D and technology, and is now carrying the dream of the morning sun lacquer.

"The access threshold of paint is low, and it is not easy to really make good products, but we need to work hard for the application of new technology and the polishing of products." During the talk, Hong Dingyi, President of China water paint research institute, evaluated the paint industry. He told reporters that although the domestic paint market is also contending for a hundred schools of thought, there is no domestic enterprise that can compete with foreign capital. Improving quality and gaining market recognition is one of the important ways to break new ground.

In January this year, for the homestay industry, Chen Yang water paint launched a new product - water spray stone, quickly won the praise of the home stay industry. It's not easy in the hard selection of the home industry. As a substitute for real stone lacquer (with natural stone powder as raw material), in addition to avoiding the destruction of the stone for the exploitation of stone, the appearance and performance of the stone are also concerned. It has been successful, the know-how is the new technology - the rational application of graphene, not only anticorrosion and flame retardancy of the water floral stone, but also the performance of hardness, wear resistance and adhesion after construction.

"In my opinion, if the quality is guaranteed, the brand can exert its strength in the market. Strengthening investment in scientific research is not only for grinding their products. Liu Shanjiang said he was more concerned about the overall development of the water paint industry, as well as the significance of the change in the coatings industry to the ecological construction in China.

In June 2017, in order to strengthen the control of VOCs emission, the first unified environmental protection standard of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the standard of the limit value of the content of volatile organic compounds in architectural coatings and adhesives, was officially announced. As the core drafting unit, the morning sun paint has put forward the limit requirements of the architectural paint and adhesive VOCs content with the international standards, and spare no effort to promote the high standard of environmental protection products.

In July 2017, the Chinese Academy of water paint research and the strategic alliance of the Chinese water-based coatings industry jointly issued the first blue book of the whole water paint industry, the blue book of the standard for application, evaluation and promotion of water paint, which will provide technical standards, standard of use and specific evaluation system for the water paint and the downstream industry.

Qiang Keyan, tree standard, as the water paint continues to be recognized, product sales continue to climb, the morning sun paint needs, and the whole coating industry of the ecological transformation, and the depth of water paint popularization. Liu Shanjiang hopes that paint brings people not only a convenient life, but also a healthy body, clean environment, and a benign relationship between human beings and the environment.
