Suning no heavy truck first test, has reached the L4 level of driverless ability.

Jun 19, 2018

On the morning of May 25th, Suning first tested a heavy truck with a capacity of 40 tons in Shanghai park.

Suning said that the truck could achieve safe and automatic driving even at 80km/h per hour, and now it has reached the L4 level of driverless ability.

The Suning logistics unmanned truck, called "line No. 1", has a strong sense of perception because of the use of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and high tech equipment such as laser radar. Although in complex scenarios, it is also possible to accurately identify obstacles beyond 300 meters, and control the vehicle to avoid detour by using the speed of 25ms reaction.

In addition, the unmanned heavy card also challenged the driver's driving technology. Unmanned trucks were driving the same route two times successively, and the results were successfully completed and the error was controlled within 2cm.

Luan Xuefeng, vice president of Suning Logistics Research Institute, said that the use of unmanned trucks can not only liberate drivers, but also reduce efficiency.

Because for long-distance freight drivers, heavy truck operation is laborious, long-distance transportation causes people to easily fatigue driving accidents.

In addition, from the perspective of logistics cost, unmanned heavy truck will reduce the operating cost of logistics enterprises, and its application space is very wide.

However, at present, there are no laws and regulations on driverless driving in our country. Luan Xuefeng believes that the logistics policy of unmanned heavy trucks needs to be perfected to help the technology blossom as soon as possible.
