In April 24th, the monthly mileage of the Barry BABEI water diversion tunnel in Nepal exceeded 1000 meters and renewed the Nepali record again. This has also been highly recognized and praised by the officials of the Ministry of irrigation in Nepal.
The project is jointly built by China Railway two bureaus group Co., Ltd. and China Overseas Engineering Co., Ltd. The project adopted dual shield tunnel boring machine (TBM), and began to excavate in November 4, 2017. The roadheader completed 3784 meters of tunneling in 172 days, averaging about 660 meters per month.
It is reported that the total length of the project is 12.2 kilometers. After the completion of the project, 51 thousand hectares of farmland in the Midwest and far west borderland of Nepal can be irrigated and a power station is built using a water level difference of about 150 meters to provide 48 megawatts of power for Nepal.
