Excavator Maintenance: Waste & Garbage Disposal Condition Anti-Corrosion & Anti-Leakage Maintenance Guide

Apr 22, 2026

Excavators used in waste treatment plants, landfills, garbage transfer stations, and other scenarios work in a highly corrosive, humid, and bacterial environment for a long time. Garbage leachate, corrosive gas, and debris will cause serious corrosion, oil leakage, circuit short circuit, and structural damage. This guide provides anti-corrosion, anti-leakage, and sanitary maintenance measures to ensure the reliability of excavators in waste disposal conditions.

Whole machine anti-corrosion coating and protection. The frame, boom, arm, and chassis are coated with heavy anti-corrosion paint and anti-acid and alkali coating to resist the corrosion of garbage leachate and corrosive gas. Repair the scratched and peeled paint in time to avoid rust. Apply anti-corrosion grease on bolts, hinges, and connecting parts to prevent corrosion and seizure.

Hydraulic system anti-corrosion and anti-leakage maintenance. Garbage corrosive liquid will damage the hydraulic cylinder seal and pipeline, causing oil leakage and system failure. Use corrosion-resistant seals and hoses. Check the hydraulic cylinder rod and pipeline daily for corrosion and oil leakage; replace damaged parts in time. Use anti-corrosion hydraulic oil and shorten the oil change cycle. Install a protective cover on the hydraulic cylinder to prevent direct contact with garbage.

Electrical system anti-moisture and anti-corrosion protection. Corrosive gas and moisture will cause short circuit, poor contact, and component damage. The wiring harness and connector adopt waterproof and anti-corrosion treatment. Check the battery, controller, and sensor daily for corrosion; clean the terminal and apply anti-corrosion grease. Keep the electrical box sealed to prevent corrosive gas from entering.

Cab sanitary and anti-pollution maintenance. The cab is equipped with a high-efficiency air purification system to filter harmful gases and dust. Clean the cab daily to remove garbage residues and peculiar smell. Check the sealing of doors and windows daily to prevent corrosive gas and dust from entering. Operators should wear protective equipment to ensure health.

Chassis and running gear anti-corrosion cleaning. Clean the garbage, sludge, and leachate on the track frame, supporting wheel, and driving wheel daily with high-pressure water. Lubricate the supporting wheel and driving wheel with anti-corrosion grease every shift. Check the floating oil seal daily; replace damaged seals in time to prevent garbage from entering and causing wear.

Engine and exhaust system anti-corrosion maintenance. Corrosive gas will accelerate engine cylinder wear and exhaust pipe corrosion. Use high-grade anti-corrosion engine oil and shorten the oil change cycle. Check the exhaust pipe and muffler daily for corrosion and damage; repair or replace them in time. Keep the air filter clean to avoid dust and corrosive particles inhalation.

Structural part anti-crack and anti-fatigue maintenance. Garbage handling operations are frequent and the load changes greatly, easily causing structural cracks. Check the welds and stress concentration parts daily for cracks; repair them immediately. Reinforce key structural parts during regular maintenance to improve fatigue resistance.

Daily disinfection and odor removal. After operation, carry out disinfection and deodorization treatment on the whole machine to eliminate bacteria and peculiar smell. Use a neutral disinfectant to avoid damaging the paint and seals. Keep the excavator dry to reduce corrosion and bacterial growth.

Regular comprehensive anti-corrosion maintenance. Conduct a comprehensive cleaning, anti-corrosion inspection, and lubrication supplement every week. Change the hydraulic oil, engine oil, and filter element monthly. Conduct a thorough anti-corrosion coating repair every quarter to ensure the long-term anti-corrosion effect.

Emergency treatment for leakage. If garbage leachate enters the hydraulic system or engine accidentally, stop the machine immediately, drain the deteriorated oil, clean the system, replace the oil and filter element, and check the component corrosion before putting it into use again.

In summary, the maintenance of excavators in waste disposal conditions focuses on anti-corrosion, anti-leakage, frequent cleaning, and sanitary protection. Strict implementation can effectively slow down corrosion and ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment.
