How To Protect A Loader in The Rain?

Jan 10, 2026

Summer has arrived, and while we're all scrambling to find ways to protect ourselves from the sun and heat, some areas have already experienced days of heavy rain. The rainy season is here, but loaders continue their work in an orderly fashion. However, the continuous rain has brought many challenges to loader operation. Below, we'll discuss some precautions to take when operating loaders in the rain.

When working in the rain, it's crucial to pay close attention to road conditions, especially in areas with thick layers of mud. After rain, the mud becomes extremely slippery. In these areas, we must be mindful of our surroundings and constantly observe the environment. When pushing material, use a low throttle and operate steadily. Don't rush. Because of the slippery surface, improper or slow operation after the loader bucket inserts into the material can easily cause the loader wheels to slip. Sometimes, increasing the throttle when the bucket can't penetrate the material will only worsen the slippage, preventing the load from being fully filled and potentially damaging the machine. If necessary, shift to reverse and try another scoop to avoid unnecessary tire damage. This is less of a problem if working on concrete.

On dirt roads, the situation is different. Some sections are entirely muddy, potentially concealing sharp stones. If the tires slip for extended periods, the friction against these stones can easily leave scratches. Months of wear and tear can be wiped out in an instant due to this small action – a significant loss. When parking outdoors, ensure the fuel tank and hydraulic oil tank caps are tightly closed to prevent rainwater from seeping in and causing unnecessary problems.

It is necessary to install snow chains on the loader to increase safety. Snow chains should be installed in advance, not in extreme conditions. Hasty installation is unsafe and troublesome. In special circumstances, safety warning signs must be placed before and after the loader. Never install snow chains when tire pressure is low. Furthermore, ensure the snow chain size matches the wheel rim size and width. After installing snow chains, avoid excessive speed and sudden acceleration or deceleration to prevent damage to the chains.

The air quality is poor now, and acid rain sometimes occurs, so we need to protect loaders during rainy days to extend their service life.
