With The Arrival Of A Cold Wave, This Winter Maintenance Guide For Electric Forklifts Will Help You Work With Peace Of Mind.

Oct 15, 2025

As cold waves strike one after another and temperatures drop, the use and maintenance of electric forklifts face new challenges. In order to ensure the effective operation of forklifts in low-temperature environments and extend their service life, a winter use and maintenance guide for electric forklifts has been developed. Through reasonable measures and the practical and thoughtful low-temperature protection function of electric forklifts, we can ensure that your car can maintain stable performance, safety, and reliability even in winter!

The electric forklift adopts an automotive grade thermal management system and comes standard with battery heating function across the entire range, suitable for operation in various extreme working conditions (extremely cold, extremely hot, high dust environment). When charging at low temperatures, the BMS (Battery Management System) will detect the battery, and the heating system will automatically start when the temperature is too low. Charging will be carried out when the charging temperature value is reached.

Although the battery comes with a heating function, the following precautions should be taken when working at low temperatures:

1. It is recommended to charge the vehicle immediately after work, fully utilizing the residual temperature of the battery pack discharge to improve charging efficiency.

In low temperature environments below 2.0 ℃, when connecting a charger/station, the battery pack should first start pure heating mode, and then enter charging mode after the battery pack has warmed up. This is a normal phenomenon.

3. Due to factors such as driving habits, operating conditions, vehicle usage time, and temperature (low temperature in winter), the working hours of the vehicle may fluctuate after a full charge, which is a normal phenomenon.

To ensure efficient and safe operation of vehicles in cold weather. Here are some practical suggestions for winter maintenance of electric forklifts.

Lubrication system maintenance

The low temperature in winter may increase the viscosity of lubricating oil, which may affect the lubrication effect of electric forklifts. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the low viscosity lubricating oil suitable for winter use (it is recommended to use No. 0 lithium grease), and regularly check the working condition of the lubrication system to ensure that all components are fully lubricated.

Hydraulic system maintenance

The hydraulic system of an electric forklift is a key component for lifting and transporting goods. In winter, due to low temperatures, the fluidity of hydraulic oil will deteriorate. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the hydraulic oil suitable for winter use (it is recommended to use No. 32 anti-wear hydraulic oil), and regularly clean the hydraulic oil tank and filter to ensure the normal operation of the hydraulic system.

Tire maintenance

Tires are important components of electric forklifts, directly affecting the safety of vehicle operation. In winter, due to the slippery road surface, tire grip is particularly important. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly check the wear of tires and replace severely worn tires in a timely manner. At the same time, maintain moderate tire pressure to improve tire lifespan and driving safety.
