Lianghekou Hydropower Station, also known as Yalong River Lianghekou Hydropower Station; it is located at the confluence of Yalong River, Xianshui River, and Daqing River, with a unique location. It is not only the "leading" reservoir in the middle and lower reaches of the Yalong River, but also the largest scale of installed capacity among the 7 cascade power stations in the middle reaches. The construction of the largest hydropower project in my country's Tibetan areas has begun. This super project started in 2014 and is now under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. With a total investment of 66.4 billion yuan, the project has a dam height of 295 meters, which will exceed the 181 meters of the Three Gorges Project. It is also the highest earth-rock dam power station in China.
The development purpose of the power station is mainly to generate electricity. At the same time, it has the functions and effects of storing water and energy, sharing the flood control tasks in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and improving the shipping conditions of the Yangtze River Channel during the dry season. The total installed capacity of the Lianghekou Hydropower Station is 3 million kilowatts and the annual average power generation capacity reaches 11 billion kilowatt hours, which can be used for power generation in several provinces. At the same time, it has a significant compensation effect on the cascade power stations of the Yalong River, the lower reaches of the Jinsha River and even the Yangtze River. It is the power station for the implementation of power transmission from west to east in my country.
At the same time, if the power station is completed to generate power, my country will reduce coal consumption by 13.3 million tons per year; it will be of great significance to the development of hydropower in the west and promote social and economic development; it will play an important role in flood control in the Sichuan and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River; It is said to be a super project that will benefit most of China. At present, the Lianghekou Hydropower Station has achieved the key goal of successfully closing the gates and storing water. It is planned to complete the grouting before April 15.
Although we still don't see the face of this magnificent project, we can go to the Yalong River to take a look at the magnificent natural landscape around it. As the dam impounds water, part of the landscape of Zhaba's "Walking Marriage Grand Canyon" has been submerged. However, this does not affect tourists who travel along the Yalong River. On the side of the beautiful Yalong River, apart from the Lianghekou Hydropower Station under construction, Yajiang County, 25 kilometers away, is completely named after the Yalong River.
Built on a cliff at an altitude of 3,000 meters, Yajiang County is regarded as the most dangerous and unique county seat in China. Because of its dangerous terrain, it has been an important military checkpoint since ancient times. The entire county town is built on cliffs, and most of the area in the territory is above 3000 meters above sea level. Although the county town is not large, the deepest impression is that "there is no three feet flat." There is a strong and simple Tibetan style here, Tibetan architecture can be seen everywhere, and the locals wearing Tibetan robes make the whole small county full of strong exotic customs.
The Yalong River originated from the Bayan Har Mountain in Yushu Prefecture, which is at the junction of Sichuan and Qinghai Provinces. It flows from Shiqu to Sichuan and joins the Jinsha River at Panzhihua. It travels from the north to the south on the inaccessible plateau in western Sichuan. . Located in Xinlong County, the Yalong River Grand Canyon is 175 kilometers long. It is famous for its strangeness, seclusion, danger, and steepness. It is considered to be a way to the "navel of the earth".
