Toyota 8FGU25 Core IC Pneumatic Forklift Extends System of Active Stability to the 5,000-lb Counterbalance Class

Oct 17, 2026

Toyota continues to position the 8FGU25 as the anchor of its Core IC Pneumatic forklift range - a 5,000-pound capacity sit-down counterbalance truck powered by either an LP fuel system (Toyota 4Y 4-cylinder, 136-cubic-inch) or a dual-fuel configuration (Kubota WG2503 4-cylinder), designed for outdoor yard work, dock loading, and general warehouse-material handling where uneven surfaces and stability risk are routine operating conditions. The 8FGU25 pairs its 5,000-lb rated capacity with a full-floating powertrain, an automatic transmission with an oil cooler, and Toyota's patented "System of Active Stability" (SAS) - a defining safety-and-stability feature that separates Toyota pneumatic trucks from competitors.

SAS monitors truck operation continuously, taking over 3,000 readings per second to detect unsafe operating conditions. When a hazard is detected, the system activates one of its two main stabilizing functions. The "Active Control Rear Stabilizer System" uses a patented swing lock cylinder to lock the rear steer axle, converting the truck's stability footprint from a triangular to a rectangular pattern - significantly reducing the risk of a lateral tipover when the truck is carrying loads at height or turning on uneven surfaces. The "Active Mast Function Control System" reduces forward tilt speed and rear-tilt speed by half when sensing a longitudinal tipover risk, preventing the truck from pitching forward when lifting heavy loads at extended mast heights.

Beyond SAS, the 8FGU25 incorporates a bolt-on, impact-absorbing overhead guard meeting ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 standards, an 11.8-inch-diameter two-spoke steering wheel with optional finger-tip hydraulic controls, and a dash-mounted LCD multi-function display that provides data logs, fuel level, operation information, and QR-code output for service history tracking. Combined with an optional sideshift and fork positioner for precise load alignment, Toyota's pre-installed telematics solution for fleet data monitoring, and the manufacturer's reputation for long-term durability and parts availability, the 8FGU25 positions itself as a direct competitor to the Hyster H50XT, Crown FC 5252, and Cat DP50 in the global 5,000-lb pneumatic counterbalance segment.
