Dynapac CA2500D Single-Drum Vibratory Roller Extends Anti-Spin Traction Control and Automatic Vibration to the 10-Ton Class

Oct 18, 2026

Dynapac, a Fayat Group company, positions the CA2500D as the anchor of its 10-ton single-drum vibratory roller range - an approximately 10,100-kg operating-weight machine with an 84-inch smooth drum, designed for medium-to-large soil compaction on road construction, airport runways, dam construction, and industrial foundations where compaction depth, traction, and fuel economy determine project economics. Powered by a Cummins QSF3.8 water-cooled turbo diesel engine delivering 89 kW (120 hp) at 2,200 rpm (Tier 4 Final / Stage IV compliant), with an optional Cummins QSB4.5 alternative for markets running at Stage IIIA, the CA2500D delivers 0-to-12 km/h travel speed, 51 percent maximum theoretical gradeability, and ±9 degrees of vertical drum oscillation.

The machine's defining engineering feature is the "Anti-Spin Traction Control" drive system - Dynapac's proprietary anti-slip technology that detects wheel slippage on soft or steep ground and automatically adjusts hydraulic drive pressure to maintain traction without operator intervention. Combined with a toggling gear-shifting system for rapid direction changes during compaction passes, the Anti-Spin system allows the CA2500D to work on soft subgrade and steep grades where a conventional roller would lose traction and require operator correction. The machine's rear axle is available in No-Spin or Limited-Slip differential configurations for additional traction support in challenging ground conditions.

The CA2500D's "Automatic Vibration Control" engages vibration only when the machine is in the compaction operating position - automatically disengaging during travel and stopping to prevent unnecessary vibration, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize operator exposure to resonance. The machine's "Seismic with Compaction Meter including Active Bouncing Control" option provides real-time compaction measurement that identifies soft spots, under-compacted zones, and over-compacted areas - allowing the operator to optimize each pass and document compaction quality. Combined with ECO mode for maximum fuel economy, a cross-mounted engine for improved service access, a combi cooler with hydraulically driven fan, and a failsafe multidisc parking/emergency brake in the drum gearbox and rear axle, the CA2500D positions itself as a direct competitor to the Bomag BW 213 D-5, Hamm H 13i, and Caterpillar CS56B in the global 10-ton single-drum vibratory roller segment.
