Forklift Safety Operation Regulations Forklift Safety Operation Regulations

Driving standards

Driver training: Drivers must hold a forklift driving certificate issued by the labor department; The characteristics of the brakes, accelerators, and hydraulic control handles of each forklift with the same technical parameters may vary. Drivers should familiarize themselves with each operation before driving the forklift.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when driving a forklift. For safety reasons, do not wear loose clothing to avoid getting caught.

• Rules must be followed: Do not drive a forklift when you feel tired, have difficulty concentrating, have used anesthetics or consumed alcohol.

Workplace safety: Ensure that the work environment is in a safe condition, including good road conditions and sufficient lighting.

• Keep the forklift, especially the cab, clean: Do not put tools or other items in the cab to avoid obstructing the movement of the control lever or pedals; When your hands are contaminated with oil, do not operate the forklift. It is dangerous to operate the forklift when your hands are wet or contaminated with oil.

Check the safety condition around the forklift: Before starting the forklift, make sure there are no people around it; When carrying large cargo with poor visibility, please reverse or be guided by others; When reversing, make sure that there are no people around the forklift; When driving a forklift in a narrow passage, there should be someone to guide it; Drivers should stop at intersections or other places with obstructed visibility to ensure that there is no one on either side of the forklift before driving; Forklifts are different from cars in that they have rear wheel steering. When approaching the turning point, the driving speed is reduced, and then the steering wheel is turned to rotate the rear of the forklift.

• Up and down forklift: Do not jump on or off the forklift. When getting on and off the forklift, grab the handle with your hand and step on the pedal with your foot; When getting on and off the forklift, do not grip the steering wheel or control lever.

Prohibited forklift passengers: It is strictly prohibited to carry people on forks or pallets. No one other than the driver is allowed to ride in the car; Do not use people to replace balance weights.

• Prohibition of rough driving: Do not turn on the key switch while pressing the accelerator pedal; Do not suddenly start, brake, or turn to prevent the forklift from tipping over and causing the goods to fall; Do not run over scattered barriers or obstacles on the road surface; Do not drive into soft ground; When driving on wet, slippery, uneven, or sloping roads, please reduce your driving speed; Ensure that there is a certain gap between the door frame, roof, and entrance/exit.

Do not drive when the fork is raised: Do not drive the forklift when the fork is raised to prevent the goods from falling and the forklift from tipping over.

Do not drive by the roadside: Ensure that there is sufficient safety distance between the forklift and the roadside or platform edge to prevent the forklift from falling.

Forklift maintenance: Do not modify the forklift, follow the usage guide for daily and regular maintenance; Stop operating the forklift for maintenance when it is damaged or malfunctioning; Before the forklift is thoroughly inspected, it cannot be operated; When checking the electrical system, turn off the key switch and unplug the battery plug.

Operating Specifications

Overloading work is prohibited: Forklifts can only handle goods with a weight below the rated lifting capacity; When overloaded, the rear wheels are easily off the ground, and the steering cannot be controlled, which can easily lead to accidents.

Prohibition of unbalanced stacking: When stacking with a forklift, it is necessary to ensure the safe and stable discharge of goods, accurately insert the fork into the pallet, and keep the center of gravity of the goods consistent with the center of the forklift, otherwise it may cause the goods to fall and the forklift to tip over.

Prohibit goods from exceeding the height limit: The height of the goods cannot exceed the shelf, otherwise it may cause the goods to slide in the direction of the operator, and the driver may be injured by the goods.

• Handling oversized and oversized goods: When handling oversized and oversized goods, drivers should be particularly careful, slow down, turn slowly, and lift or lower them; Pay attention to the balance of goods and try to lower them as much as possible; Equipped with appropriate extended and widened fork racks; Use pallets of appropriate size and strength to carry goods; Ensure that the goods are fixed on the pallet and have a suitable shape. When the goods are oversized, be careful not to collide with objects on both sides of the road while driving.

Prohibit using fork tips for work: Do not use fork tips to push or lift goods. When using fork tips to push or lift goods, it may cause the forklift or goods to shake.

Prohibited push-pull operation: Do not use a forklift to push or pull goods, otherwise the goods may be damaged or fall.

• Avoidance: It is prohibited to stand on the goods to cross under the shelves.

• Stabilize the goods: When the forklift is in motion, the door frame tilts back into place to stabilize the goods; When driving (with or without load), the distance between the fork and the ground should be maintained at 150-200 millimeters.

• Prohibited entry into the gantry mechanism: No part of the body is allowed to enter the gantry mechanism or between the gantry and the vehicle body; The joystick should be operated in the correct position; When the joystick is hooked onto the body or clothing, the door frame may move, posing a risk of injury to hands and feet; When operating a forklift, please place your body under the overhead guard and do not allow any part of your body to protrude outside the vehicle.

• Prohibit sudden manipulation of the handle: Regardless of whether it is fully loaded or unloaded, the hydraulic control handle should be operated slowly; When the fork is in a high position, if the handle is suddenly manipulated, there is a risk of the goods falling or the forklift tipping over; Do not stop or lower the shelves urgently.

When the door frame tilts forward, the shelf must not rise: Before lifting goods or starting a forklift, the door frame should be tilted back into place to stabilize the goods; In the forklift state, the door frame cannot tilt forward; When lifting or lowering goods, the vehicle should be parked first; Do not load or unload goods when the forklift is tilted.

Do not tow a forklift: When the brake or steering system malfunctions, do not use another forklift to tow, otherwise unpredictable accidents may occur.

It is prohibited to change the purpose of the forklift at will. Prohibit using forks for purposes other than those specified; Do not tie the goods to the shelves with ropes, use a forklift to lift them; When using forks to lift goods, appropriate attachments should be equipped; Forklifts should not be used as tractors for towing operations.

Precautions after work completion

Before leaving the forklift: The door frame should be slightly tilted forward, and the fork should be naturally lowered. If the fork is not lowered to the ground, there is a risk of tripping and injuring the body; Place the directional handle in neutral position; Pull up the parking brake lever; Turn off the key switch and remove the key.

Parking at designated locations: The parking area must have sufficient strength; Parking in a place that does not impede traffic safety; Do not park near fire hydrants or in areas that affect fire exits; Do not park in or near areas with flammable materials; Do not park your car on a slope.

Charging: Prevent the charging equipment from getting damp, and ensure good ventilation at the charging location to dissipate any odors generated by the battery; When charging forklift batteries, make sure to mark the charging process properly; When charging the battery, the positive and negative poles cannot be connected in reverse; Do not discharge excessively and do not use the forklift until it cannot move before stopping. When the battery capacity alarm indicator light flashes continuously, the battery needs to be charged.
