31,700 excavators sold well in May! When the epidemic and the low season overlap, how long can it be hot?

Recently, the China Construction Machinery Association announced that the sales volume of excavators in May reached as high as 31,700 units, an increase of 68% year-on-year and a decrease from April. At the end of May and early June, domestic excavator users encountered overlapping effects of the "epidemic" and "off-season". On the topic of whether domestic excavators continue to sell well in June, the editor of the Ironclad launched a user survey on the Ironclad Forum. Regarding the engineering behind May sales and the prediction for June, users have a lot to say, let's take a look!


The survey covered 19 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China, and nearly 100 users participated in the survey. It is also worth mentioning that this time there is a user who is constructing overseas. His excavator has been working for 2000 hours from the New Year to the present. He has also stopped working to find a job because of the impact of the recent epidemic.


First, for the hot sales of excavators from March to April, more than 50% of users clearly analyzed the reasons, 74% of them believed that the pulling factors were increased work resumption rate, project pulling, 2019 unfinished projects, etc.; 42% of users said The low price is the main reason for the hot sale of the excavator. In addition, there are factors such as environmental protection, equipment upgrades, manufacturers' hunger marketing, and drivers switching to buy excavators. Only 2 users said they were buying impulsively.


Secondly, with regard to the distribution of project types, more than half of the survey users clearly expressed their views. Among them, 53% of users said that there are stable projects around them, such as the construction of Taihang Iron and Steel, the relocation of Handan Iron and Steel (with a construction period of 1 to 2 years), tunnel construction, factory stacking & train unloading, secondary roads, Dalian Airport, China-Russia bridge across the river, free trade zone construction, etc. In addition, 41% of users said that their living sources are concentrated in rural and urbanization construction, among which rural projects include farmland water conservancy construction, wasteland reconstruction, old community reconstruction, water and toilet reform, breeding construction, etc.; urbanization construction has real estate Projects, hospital construction, sewage treatment, heating pipelines, running water pipelines, river channel cleaning, etc.


Third, only 30% of users said that they are in the peak construction season. 50% of users have entered the construction off season at the end of May and June. Forty percent of these 50% of users come from the South, and other regions have entered the off-season due to environmental protection, labor return to farming and other factors.


Finally, factors such as insufficient construction, saturation of excavators, convening of the two sessions, busy farming and other factors overlap, and 47% of users clearly stated that it is difficult for excavators to continue their hot sales trend since March in June.


Summary: Factors such as the resumption of work after the epidemic, the start of construction, and the price reduction of excavators promoted the sales of excavators in March and April. However, starting in the middle and late May, the two sessions, the return of migrant workers to work in rural areas, the saturation of excavators, environmental protection policies, the southern rainy season and other factors, 50% of users said that their construction has entered the off-season. The end of the traditional peak season, May, and the original low season of excavator sales in June, this year overlapped the above reasons, so it is difficult to continue selling before. Therefore, nearly 50% of users also hold a wait-and-see attitude towards the best selling of digging machines in June.


The traditional low season is coming, the two sessions are held, the project is stopped, the migrant workers return to the countryside to work on the farm, and the migrant workers find it difficult to find a job after the epidemic. It is expected that the conventional crawler excavators will be difficult to continue selling since March. However, since June, July and August are traditional peak seasons for micro-digging, the micro-digging market is expected to bring a certain increase. In addition, the leader in the field of wheel digging has launched a cost-effective 6-ton wheel digging, which has a certain impact on the wheel digging market. Other brands may fall, and wheel digging may usher in new development.
