Doosan launches the first wheel loader bucket without blind spots, and has applied for a patent in China

Mar 23, 2021

According to foreign media reports, Doosan recently launched the industry's first wheel loader equipped with a "visual bucket" that uses front projection technology to eliminate blind spots for operators.

"Visibility" is provided by the camera, which provides real-time images that are not normally seen by the operator when lifting the bucket. The cameras located at the top and bottom are displayed in the operator's field of view using a curved projection method. Doosan said: "The driver can not only use the monitor to easily check the blind spot in front of the bucket to prevent safety accidents. It can also help increase productivity by providing a front view during loading and unloading and when carrying a load."

Transparent buckets are not available in the United States, and there is no specific information on when they can be used. However, Doosan has applied for patents in North America, Europe, South Korea and China.

Visible buckets are only part of improving job site safety through technology, such as a panoramic monitoring system that can monitor the surrounding environment of equipment and a post-alarm system that uses ultrasonic sensors. It is reported that the visual bucket and other technologies are designed for the new generation of DL-7 series wheel loaders that Doosan recently launched in Europe and South Korea. And, the visual bucket is provided as an optional feature.

The new wheel loader also helps improve operator visibility, and the cab glass windows are 14% larger than previous models. It is also equipped with an ergonomic operation panel and a semi-automatic door function using smart keys. "It fundamentally changes all the contents of the new loader series. This is the first modification of the series in 10 years. This design has been highly recognized in South Korea and Germany."

The new DL-7 series was launched in May last year to meet the latest European Stave V emission standards. Doosan plans to start in Europe and launch new series globally over time. News of the North American plan has not yet been announced.
