What changes have taken place in the global tower crane industry in the past year?

Aug 04, 2018

Driven by the European and American markets, the global tower crane industry is revitalized again.

Including Manitowak, Liebherr, Wolff, Linden Comanza, most of the world's mainstream tower crane manufacturers ushered in performance growth. Globally, Europe and the United States are the two fastest growing regional markets, and sales growth in European markets is higher than in the US. The sales of the cranes and cranes in the European market grew 30% year on year, the Liebherr tower crane sales in Germany rose by 41.8% and the U.S. sales rose by 18.6% over the same period. However, despite overall good performance in Europe, demand for new tower cranes is concentrated in Western Europe, and the Eastern European market is still underperforming.

Globally, another important market, Asia, has been divided. For most Asian manufacturers, the overall sales performance remains stable because of service and leasing, but for European and American manufacturing companies, most companies have a small decline in sales in Asia.

In 2017, the regional market with the most demanding demand for global tower cranes was in the Middle East. In this regard, the sales volume of most enterprises decreased compared with the previous year.

Over the past few years, manufacturers have made different directions and priorities in product innovation of tower cranes.

From the tonnage level, the demand for large tonnage, long boom products and small construction cranes is relatively more vigorous. In 2017, Wolf, Lin Dun man SA, and Rex introduced new products of tower crane with larger tonnage. Unlike this, the FOK group further focuses on the R & D and production of small construction cranes.

At the same time, all kinds of subdivision products, such as the boom tower crane, the flat head tower crane, the lower gyration tower crane, the upper gyration tower crane and the mobile crane, have high demand in different markets around the world. Liebherr, Linden Coleman Sa and other companies are also keeping up with demand changes, and have launched corresponding new products.

In the upgrading of technology, the main concern of the global mainstream tower crane manufacturers is the application of information technology. Many enterprises are applying intelligent technology to the operation and control system to further enhance the intelligence and convenience of the equipment.
