How To Operate A Loader Clutch?

Mar 06, 2026

The clutch is a crucial component for starting a loader. So how should it be operated during startup? How can the clutch be operated to better maintain and use the loader? Below is an introduction.

The clutch is one of the most easily damaged critical components in a mechanical transmission loader. Proper use and maintenance can extend its service life. Improper use can easily lead to malfunctions. During use, the continuous wear of parts, especially the wear of the friction plates on the clutch driven plate, will change the clearance between the release lever and the release bearing end face. If this clearance is too large, the clutch will not disengage even when the pedal is fully depressed.

If the clearance is too small, the release bearing will constantly rotate with the release lever, leading to rapid burnout or wear. Furthermore, during use, due to the different deformation and wear of the three release levers, they may not lie in a plane perpendicular to the spline shaft, resulting in incomplete clutch disengagement, difficulty shifting gears, and rapid damage to the transmission's shift gears. Incomplete clutch disengagement also accelerates the wear of the friction plates, reducing the clutch's service life.

When operating the clutch, the disengagement time should not be too long, generally not exceeding 15-20 seconds; do not use the method of partially disengaging the clutch to control vehicle speed, as this will cause rapid wear on the friction plates and release bearing. Also, do not place your foot on the clutch pedal while driving. When disengaging the clutch, the action should be quick, and the pedal should be pressed all the way down for complete disengagement; when engaging the clutch, the pedal should be released slowly for a smooth and gentle engagement. Maintenance includes cleaning the clutch housing, checking and adjusting the disengagement clearance, periodically adding grease, and cleaning oil stains from the friction plates when necessary.
