Economic Daily: Industrial Internet accelerates innovation and Application

Nov 29, 2021

"Since the beginning of this year, the digitization level of China's manufacturing industry has been continuously improved, with more than 1800 '5g + industrial Internet' projects under construction and more than 12000 application cases of the fourth 'blooming Cup' competition." Luo Junjie, director of the operation monitoring and Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of industry and information technology, said that the integrated and innovative application of industrial Internet in key industries of the national economy is accelerating.

According to the data recently released by the Ministry of industry and information technology, by the end of August this year, the penetration rate of enterprise digital R & D and design tools and the NC rate of key processes had reached 74.7% and 54.2% respectively. There were more than 100 industrial Internet platforms with certain industry and regional influence, and the total number of connected industrial equipment had reached 76 million units (sets).

Change the production mode of manufacturing industry

The industrial Internet innovation and Development Effectiveness Report (2018-2021) recently released by China Industrial Internet Research Institute shows that at present, China's industrial Internet application innovation has become increasingly active, which has penetrated into 40 key industries, including steel, machinery, electric power, transportation and energy, forming platform design, intelligent manufacturing, networked collaboration, personalized customization and service extension Digital management and other application modes to change the production mode and enterprise form of manufacturing industry.

"The industrial Internet has changed the traditional design and R & D methods." Lu chuncong, President of China Industrial Internet Research Institute, introduced that the platform digital simulation and other functions provide software tools for design, optimize complex engineering and product structure and performance by building a digital twin, and improve R & D efficiency while reducing costs.

Three years after Huawei applied the industrial Internet platform design, the time to market of high-end products was reduced from 70 months to 20 months, the time to market of middle-end products was reduced from 50 months to 10 months, and the R & D loss was reduced from 25% to 6%; Shanghai Waigaoqiao Group uses 3D model collaborative management system to shorten the modeling time of complex equipment from one day to half an hour, and significantly improve the integrity and accuracy of the model.

The industrial Internet platform can collect various data on the production site in real time, optimize the control level of equipment monitoring, diagnosis and implementation, and promote the transformation of production mode to intelligence. In the "black light factory" of Maoshan intelligent manufacturing base of boss electric appliance, 5g network uploads the workshop production equipment parameters to the industrial Internet platform, combined with edge computing and other technologies, so as to reduce the number of workers required for 24-hour production from more than 200 to 2; COMAC integrated 5g, VR, etc. with the industrial Internet, carried out the whole process control of products, equipment, tooling and logistics based on data drive, and improved the production efficiency by more than 20%.

"Although China's industrial Internet has developed rapidly, there is still a gap compared with the world's advanced level." Lu chuncong told reporters that on the one hand, the industrial basic capacity, including digital foundation and high-end industrial software and hardware, is relatively weak; On the other hand, the promotion of deep-seated application still needs to be strengthened.

Therefore, Lu chuncong suggested that the construction of new industrial Internet infrastructure should lead the digital transformation of enterprises, promote the R & D and industrialization of 5g industrial chips and modules, edge computing and other new technologies and products, and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the field of industrial Internet into real productivity.

Small and medium-sized enterprises can use it well

SMEs are the most sensitive to the market and have the strongest willingness to innovate. In recent years, they have begun to embrace the industrial Internet. However, the "cloud platform" requires the purchase of sensors, industrial 5g modules and other terminal equipment and intelligent software systems. The initial capital investment is large, and the return on investment is difficult to quantify. It is difficult for small and medium-sized enterprises to bear the pre use cost and trial and error risk of industrial Internet.

How can small and medium-sized enterprises afford and use the industrial Internet well? Li Ziwen, associate researcher of the Institute of industrial economics and technical economics of the Chinese Academy of macroeconomics, believes that we should strengthen the inclusive policy support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and bring the application of industrial Internet and digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises into the scope of financial support such as the National Development Fund for small and medium-sized enterprises and special funds for small and medium-sized enterprises, Encourage qualified regions to set up regional industrial Internet industry funds and risk compensation funds.

Li Xianjun, associate researcher of the Institute of industrial economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, also believes that when introducing the industrial Internet to non-high-tech industries, it is considered to add and deduct relevant expenses as R & D expenses.

To support small and medium-sized enterprises to "go to the cloud platform", we should also reduce the threshold of using the Internet. Li Ziwen suggested that we should vigorously support the development of industrial intelligent equipment industry, accelerate the process of hardware R & D and industrialization, and provide small and medium-sized enterprises with cheap, high-quality, easy to maintain and scalable intelligent equipment; Continuously improve the industrial Internet public service platform system.

Accelerate the training of compound talents

Industrial Internet is the product of the cross-border integration of a new generation of information technology and manufacturing industry. It needs compound talents who are familiar with production, operation and manufacturing processes and have the ability of software and hardware R & D, design and operation. At present, the shortage of industrial Internet talents is prominent, the quality of existing talents needs to be improved, and the operators and employees of manufacturing enterprises lack the thinking concept and skill quality in the fields of industrial Internet and intelligent manufacturing.

Li Ziwen believes that to make up for the talent shortage in the development of industrial Internet, on the one hand, we should strengthen the discipline construction of industrial Internet and related fields; On the other hand, we should strengthen industrial Internet vocational skills training. Support enterprise managers and technicians to participate in industrial Internet vocational training and improve the knowledge structure and skills of practitioners at different levels.

Lu Chuncong gave specific plans: to provide a number of basic skills training services for digital transformation for SMEs, and to build Internet plus occupation skills training digital resource service platform by combining traditional training with digital training. In addition, we should strengthen support for the introduction of excellent talents and encourage employers to flexibly introduce expert intellectual resources at home and abroad. Lu chuncong said, "building the industrial Internet talent system is a systematic project, which requires a long-term strategic determination to meet the talent needs of enterprise digital transformation in stages".
