In June, the heavy truck market continued to achieve double-digit growth month on month, and the whole industry is slowly recovering. In this way, the new energy heavy truck market should perform better, right? How much can it increase? Which heavy truck brand can win the monthly sales list?
In June, actual sales increased by 34% month on month and 500% year on year
According to the latest data, in June 2022, the domestic new energy heavy truck market sold a total of 2443 vehicles (traffic compulsory insurance terminal sales caliber, excluding exports and military vehicles, the same below), an increase of 34% month on month compared with may, and continued to increase significantly year-on-year, with an increase of 500%, a sharp increase over the previous month (383%). Looking at the sales volume alone, there is no doubt that the sales volume of 2443 new energy heavy trucks in June this year was at a high level, which not only created the highest monthly sales volume in the new energy heavy truck market this year, but also the third highest monthly sales volume in history (second only to December 2021 and June 2019). According to the analysis of the first commercial vehicle network, due to the impact of the epidemic in more than two months in March and April, the production supply, regional terminal demand and local licensing progress of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain have been significantly hindered. This situation improved in May and June, and the demand has further erupted. The previously signed orders have also been gradually delivered and landed, and the process in June is significantly faster than that in May.
Except for June 2019 (Note: the increment of new energy heavy trucks in June 2019 mainly comes from the centralized licensing of pure electric dump trucks (dump trucks) purchased in Shenzhen), the red line representing 2022 is always above any color in the previous three years. No matter what month, compared with the sales performance in the same period of previous years, it stands out from the crowd. It can also be seen from the above figure that since 2021, especially in the second half of the year, the new energy heavy truck market has always shown a continuous positive development trend. After half of 2022, the "positive" trend of the new energy heavy truck market continues. This year's new energy heavy truck market has almost completed the "workload" of the whole year of last year in half a year (the cumulative sales volume in the first half of this year is 96.86% of the total sales volume of last year).
In 2022, the demand for fuel and gas heavy truck terminals continued to be weak. Coupled with the impact of the epidemic, in the first six months of this year, the actual sales of heavy truck terminals in the heavy truck market averaged only about 40000 vehicles / month. From January to may, the sales of new energy heavy trucks in heavy truck terminals accounted for 7.5%, 3%, 2.9%, 3.3% and 4.2% respectively; In June, the sales of new energy heavy trucks in heavy truck terminals increased to 5% compared with previous months. In the first half of this year, the cumulative sales of new energy heavy trucks reached 10100, an increase of 491% year-on-year, accounting for 4.2% of the sales of heavy truck terminals. This is a figure that was unimaginable a year ago. In a market with a sales scale of one million vehicles, even if it is less than one million vehicles this year, 4.2% is an exciting figure.
From January to June 2022, 29 provinces (cities, districts) across the country have new energy heavy trucks listed on the road, but the regional distribution is uneven. More than 100 new energy heavy trucks have been licensed in 17 provinces (cities and districts) including Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Hunan, Shanghai, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, Anhui, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Xinjiang, Beijing, Tianjin and Fujian, among which more than 4000 new energy heavy trucks have been licensed in Hebei Province; Tangshan, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Handan, Changsha, Shanghai, Qinhuangdao, Baotou, Taiyuan, Chengdu, Ma'anshan, Linfen, Shenzhen, Beijing and other 25 cities have more than 100 new energy heavy trucks licensed, of which Tangshan has more than 1800 licensed. From January to June this year, 18.4% of the new energy heavy trucks licensed nationwide were licensed with Tangshan's "Ji B" brand; Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Handan, Changsha, Shanghai and other cities also registered more than 500 new energy heavy trucks in the first half of this year. Hebei province accounted for 4 of the 14 cities with the highest number of new energy heavy trucks from January to June (more than 200).
It is worth mentioning that Hebei province accounted for 6 of the top 12 cities (with more than 150 new energy heavy trucks) in the number of new energy heavy trucks from January to May; After June, Xingtai and Cangzhou, the two cities that still ranked in the top 12 after May, were squeezed out of the top 15. It is not difficult to see that it is not only Hebei that the pace of promoting new energy heavy trucks is accelerating. In Taiyuan, Ma'anshan and other places, the number of new energy heavy trucks in June exceeded 200, and Baotou also had 168 new energy heavy trucks in June.
Pure electric accounted for nearly 95%, and fuel cells "exploded" for the first time
From the perspective of fuel types, the technical route of new energy heavy trucks from January to June this year is still dominated by pure electric vehicles. As shown in the figure below, from January to June this year, the proportion of pure electric vehicles in new energy heavy trucks reached 94.29%, an increase of 9.12 percentage points compared with 85.16% in the same period last year; The sales volume of fuel cell heavy trucks and hybrid heavy trucks accounted for 5.59% and 0.12% respectively from January to June this year.
In 2021, fuel cell vehicles accounted for 7.46% of the sales of new energy heavy truck terminals. From January to May this year, only 148 fuel cell heavy trucks were sold, and the actual sales of new energy heavy truck terminals accounted for only 1.93% in the first may. In June, fuel cell heavy trucks finally ushered in the first outbreak of this year, with 418 vehicles sold in a single month, up 2359% year-on-year. Foshan Feichi, Zhilan automobile, FAW Jiefang and other heavy trucks of fuel cells were delivered and licensed in batches in June.
Under the national "double carbon" strategy, the scope of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle demonstration and application urban agglomeration is becoming wider and wider, and more and more heavy truck brands choose to enter this segment. From January to June this year, 11 enterprises have achieved sales in the subdivisional field of fuel cell heavy trucks. In June, another two enterprises, FAW Jiefang and Yutong, entered this track. From January to June, 566 fuel cell heavy trucks were sold, with a year-on-year increase of 138%. These fuel cell heavy trucks have been listed on the road in Taiyuan, Shenzhen, Ordos, Beijing, Jiaxing, Foshan, Yulin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Baoding and other places.

In June this year, the monthly sales champion of the new energy heavy truck market changed hands again. Sany group won the monthly sales champion of the new energy heavy truck market with 365 vehicles, surpassing the second place with 23 vehicles. This is also the second time that Sany won the monthly sales champion of the new energy heavy truck in a year, the last time in April. In the first half of 2022, four heavy truck enterprises have tasted the champion of the monthly list of new energy heavy truck market, and these four enterprises happen to be the top four enterprises in June.
In June, the sales volume of 9 enterprises in the new energy heavy truck market exceeded 100, an increase of 2 compared with that in May. It is worth mentioning that in June, the sales volume of the top three of the new energy heavy truck market exceeded 300, and the sales volume of the top six of the new energy heavy truck market exceeded 200. This "grand occasion" also appeared for the first time this year.
In the first six months of this year, eight, five, seven, five, seven and nine enterprises in the new energy heavy truck market sold more than 100 vehicles per month. In the whole year of 2021, there were 13 "players" selling 100 or more vehicles in the new energy heavy truck market. After May this year, 13 "players" sold more than 100 vehicles. After June, 15 "players" sold more than 100 vehicles in total, of which 9 enterprises sold more than 400 vehicles in total, and the top 4 enterprises sold more than 1000 vehicles in total.
In terms of growth rate, from January to June this year, the cumulative sales of the top three Sany, XCMG and Hanma technology increased by 4918%, 1229% and 229% year-on-year respectively, of which Sany and XCMG both significantly outperformed the "market" of the new energy heavy truck market; In addition, due to the small sales volume in the same period last year, enterprises such as Foton Zhilan automobile, SAIC Hongyan, Foshan Feichi, Jiefang, heavy truck and so on also had an amazing growth rate in the first six months of this year.
In terms of market share, after June, Sany group temporarily ranked first in the industry with a cumulative sales volume of 1405 vehicles, with a cumulative share of 13.88%, an increase of 12.25 percentage points over the same period last year; XCMG temporarily ranked second in the industry with 1382 vehicles, with a cumulative share of 13.66% in the first six months of this year, an increase of 7.58 percentage points over the same period last year; The cumulative sales of Hanma technology and Dongfeng company, which ranked third and fourth, also exceeded 1000 vehicles, reaching 1255 and 1060 vehicles respectively, with cumulative shares of 12.4% and 10.47% respectively. As of June, the cumulative sales of four enterprises in the new energy heavy truck market exceeded 1000 vehicles and their cumulative shares exceeded 10%; The sales volume of enterprises ranking 5th and 6th is close to 1000. Yutong and beiben have sold 976 and 953 new energy heavy trucks from January to June this year, with cumulative shares of 9.64% and 9.42% respectively, and the gap is also very small. In addition, the cumulative sales gap between Zhilan automobile and SAIC Hongyan, ranking 7th and 8th, is only 27, and the cumulative share difference is only 0.27%. After June, the gap between adjacent enterprises in the new energy heavy truck market has not opened. In the 2022 qualifying competition of new energy heavy truck, each enterprise still has many opportunities to catch up.
From January to June 2022, the overall market of new energy heavy trucks increased by 491%. Some enterprises' shares increased significantly, while some enterprises' shares fell. According to the analysis of the first commercial vehicle network, on the one hand, the emergence of this situation is due to the increasingly fierce competition, and the continuous great changes in the sales structure of new energy heavy truck products is also a major factor affecting the industry pattern.
In 2021, the market share of new energy tractors continued to rise month by month, reaching 52.91% in the whole year; In the first month of 2022, the proportion of new energy tractors in new energy heavy trucks exceeded 50%, reaching 51.6%. After June, the proportion of new energy tractors has been close to 60%, reaching 59.7% (as shown in the above figure), an increase of 6.08 percentage points over the same period last year; On the other hand, new energy heavy-duty special vehicles above 12t accounted for only 16% in the first six months, a decrease of more than 10 percentage points over the same period last year.
The main reason for this is that under the national "double carbon" background, the commercial operation of tractors with high transportation efficiency in fixed line scenarios such as mines, steel mills, power plants, ports, etc. with the integrated mode of charging and replacing electricity is becoming more and more mature, and the scope of implementation is also becoming wider and wider.
Tractor increased by 347% year-on-year in June, and Hanma technology won the crown for the third time this year
In 2022, the most eye-catching new energy heavy truck market is the tractor. In June, the "report card" of new energy tractors was: 1394 units were sold, creating the highest monthly sales volume this year, with a year-on-year growth rate of 347%, which was slower than that of the previous month (376%). According to the data of the first commercial vehicle network, 1394 new energy tractors licensed in June this year accounted for 57.06% of the whole new energy heavy truck market.
In June, Hanma technology won the champion of new energy tractor terminal sales, with 217 licensed vehicles. This is the third time that Hanma technology won the champion of new energy tractor monthly list this year (the first two times were in January and February respectively); Dongfeng and Feichi sold 210 and 192 new energy tractors respectively in June, ranking second and third in the monthly list respectively, with a small gap. In June, six enterprises in the new energy tractor market sold more than 100 vehicles. Zhilan automobile, XCMG heavy truck and SAIC Hongyan, which ranked fourth to sixth, sold 179, 126 and 124 vehicles respectively. It is worth mentioning that the top three members of the monthly list of new energy tractors in June are completely different from the top three members of the monthly list in May. In May and June, only Hanma technology and Xugong were in the top five. It is not difficult to see how fierce the competition in this segment is.
In 2021, there were 12 new energy tractor brands with more than 100 licenses throughout the year; In the first month of 2022, this number reached 5. After June, this number has reached 11. Enterprises such as Yutong and Nanjing Jinlong are not far away from the cumulative sales of 100 vehicles. There is no doubt that there will be more than 100 new energy tractors in 2022, and the club members will soon exceed the scale in 2021.
In terms of growth rate, the market sales of new energy tractors exceeded 6000 in the first June of this year, up 558% year-on-year. All enterprises have achieved substantial growth. Due to the small base in the same period last year, the growth rate of all enterprises is more than 100, thousands, or even more than 10000. It is worth mentioning that the number of "participants" of new energy tractors has also increased significantly: in the first June of 2021, there were only 16 "players" in the new energy tractor market, such as Hanma technology, beiben, BYD, Dongfeng, Futian, Nanjing Jinlong, etc; In the first month of 2022, the number of "players" in the new energy tractor market reached 14, and after June, the number of participants in this segment has reached 21. From the growth trend of the number of participating enterprises, it is also not difficult to see that the industry is optimistic about the future prospects of this segment. The addition of more powerful "players" has made the competition in the field of new energy tractors more intense this year, and the championship battle is becoming more and more suspense.
In terms of market share, from January to June this year, Hanma technology temporarily ranked first in the new energy tractor industry with a cumulative sales volume of 919 vehicles, with a cumulative share of 15.21%; XCMG, beiben, Sany, Zhilan and SAIC Hongyan also sold more than 600 vehicles in total, ranking second to sixth in the new energy tractor market. Their cumulative shares from January to June this year were 14.91%, 10.92%, 10.91%, 10.48% and 10.38% respectively, making them the other five enterprises with cumulative shares of more than 10%; In addition, Dongfeng company sold 440 new energy tractors from January to June, and FAW Jiefang and Foshan Feichi also sold more than 200.
