Lighthouse network members work together to form an intelligent manufacturing community, promote global knowledge exchange, and put environment, society and Governance (ESG) at the top of its agenda.
Greater China accounts for nearly 30% of the global manufacturing capacity. Here, leading enterprises are using intelligent manufacturing technology - from the Internet of things to 3D printing - to transform their operations and business models in a responsible way, showing great potential in all walks of life. The winners of the global lighthouse network are at the forefront of manufacturing transformation by deploying these technologies on a large scale and creating new value and customer experience in factories and the entire value chain. So far, the network has 103 industry-leading factories, 37 of which are located in Greater China. They form intelligent manufacturing communities, promote global knowledge exchange, and place environmental, social and Governance (ESG) at the top of their agenda, focusing on sustainable development priorities and labor factors.
On the occasion of the 2022 annual meeting of the world economic forum, we invite these leaders of advanced manufacturing industry to share their insights and specific actions to address current global challenges, and to share their experience in giving full play to the potential of factory and intelligent manufacturing technology.
"Sustainable enterprises through electrification"
Xiangwenbo, chairman of Sany Heavy Industry
Under the influence of many factors, such as the intensification of global climate change and the proposal of the national "double carbon" policy, the construction machinery industry faces new opportunities while facing the challenges of electrification and new energy transformation. Sany vigorously promoted 5g, Internet of things, artificial intelligence, big data, advanced manufacturing and other technologies, which increased production capacity by 59%, shortened manufacturing cycle by 49%, and reduced energy consumption by 11.3%.
We actively arranged the new energy reform of construction machinery and equipment, launched the electrification development strategy, and became the first brand in the electrification field of the industry. These efforts aim to contribute to the development of new energy for construction machinery, the improvement of the global environment, social responsibility and the construction of sustainable enterprises.
"The world's first factory with zero carbon certification"
Zeng Yuqun, founder and chairman of Ningde times
Climate change has put forward urgent requirements for the sustainability and resilience of the new energy industry. Extreme green manufacturing and modular battery replacement are our latest achievements in meeting these challenges.
In 2021, Ningde factory was recognized as a "lighthouse factory" due to its achievements in extreme manufacturing. This year, it was upgraded to extreme green manufacturing. Ningde Shidai Yibin factory is the first factory in the world to obtain zero carbon certification. Here, about 80% of energy consumption comes from hydropower, reducing 400000 tons of carbon emissions every year. The production line applies an intelligent factory management system, which has real-time data monitoring and advanced algorithms for equipment operation, so that we can calculate the operating parameters of each equipment to achieve the lowest total energy consumption of the system.
In addition to manufacturing innovation, Ningde times continues to promote sustainable development through business model innovation. Based on the concept of battery vehicle separation, Ningde times launched the modular power exchange scheme evogo in January this year. Consumers can choose one to three batteries to meet different mileage needs. With the high compatibility and standardization of choco SEB batteries, the battery replacement station becomes a shared infrastructure, avoiding the repeated investment of social resources such as land and electricity, and helping to promote electric vehicles and global sustainable development.
"Digital intelligence of manufacturing industry enables sustainable development"
Wuhan Qi, general manager of CITIC daika
In the hub industry, the application of digital technology has changed the traditional design and manufacturing process. CITIC daika has deployed an ai+ platform to transform massive manufacturing data into globally shared knowledge. Therefore, the scattered data can be built into a shared root cause countermeasure database to help factories around the world carry out multi-party and efficient cooperation. Traditional manufacturing enterprises can reduce resource consumption and environmental impact by applying digital transformation and intelligent manufacturing technology. Through industrial interconnection and agile manufacturing, factories can improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption to pursue a more sustainable low-carbon manufacturing path. CITIC daika has built the first "lighthouse factory" in the global aluminum wheel industry. Located in Qinhuangdao, the comprehensive efficiency of its equipment has increased by 21.4%, the delivery time has been shortened by 37.9%, and the energy efficiency has been improved by 39%.
"Embrace the digital transformation of manufacturing"
Zhenghongmeng, CEO of industrial Fulian
The digital transformation of manufacturing industry has become an irreversible trend in the world. Over the past 40 years, Foxconn industrial Internet has built a solid foundation of manufacturing capacity based on lean production culture, information system, automation system and equipment interconnection. We take this industrial transformation trend as a new opportunity to further improve our manufacturing capacity, promote factory upgrading to meet the "lighthouse factory" standard of the world economic forum, establish an industrial Fulian cloud platform to provide services for factories and value chain partners, and improve the toughness and sustainability of the supply chain through intelligent information interconnection.
In addition, the industry Confederation announced an ambitious carbon reduction goal, namely, to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. We believe that digital technology will play a crucial role in energy management, waste recycling, renewable energy substitution and carbon credit schemes.
We look forward to jointly maintaining a green and beautiful world through digital cooperation.
"Build industrial Internet Ecology and lead sustainable development"
Chenlucheng, chairman of Haier CAOS IOT Ecological Technology Co., Ltd
The increasing demand for restructuring the global economic structure has accelerated the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry. Industrial Internet has naturally become an innovative path for sustainable development.
Cosmoplat adheres to the concept of multi-party interaction and value-added sharing. Based on the baas engine operating system with mass production as the core, it allows customers to participate in the whole manufacturing process and enables enterprises to dynamically perceive customer needs. It has established a new paradigm of cross industry, cross region, cross culture, digital economy oriented and ecosystem based, which endows enterprises with higher production, quality and cost-effectiveness. This will also help enterprises break through barriers and obtain more production resources. For example, creating and providing added value on the two-way value flow system can promote the iteration of customer experience and accelerate the value-added sharing among all participants in the ecosystem.
"Rooted in digital and intelligent technology"
Fanghongbo, chairman of Midea Group
We see that the demand for personalized and customized products in the home appliance market is growing. For traditional manufacturers like Midea, how to effectively meet these needs is a huge challenge. In this case, we have built an end-to-end order management platform with the help of digital and intelligent technology. By controlling every step of the delivery process and pushing forecast alarms when necessary, we have greatly shortened the order delivery time. We also introduce these technologies into the production line of the factory. Thanks to robot automation, our production flexibility has been significantly improved.
