Terex Minerals Processing Systems has unveiled the ASRi 2.0 (Automatic Setting Regulation) control system for its TC series cone crushers. In aggregate production, the mantle and concave liners wear down over time, causing the crushing gap to widen. This results in larger, inconsistent stone output (gradation drift), which can be rejected by concrete plants. Traditionally, operators had to manually shut down the crusher to measure the gap and adjust the setting.
The ASRi 2.0 system uses a "Hydroset" cylinder to automatically adjust the main shaft position. It monitors the crushing force and power draw of the crusher motor. As the liners wear, the system detects a drop in crushing pressure for the same feed rate. It then compensates by incrementally lowering the main shaft to maintain the original crushing gap. Furthermore, the system features "Protection Logic." If an uncrushable object, like a shovel tooth, enters the chamber, the system detects the sudden pressure spike and instantly retracts the shaft (opening the gap) to let the object pass. Crucially, ASRi 2.0 remembers the "pass" and automatically returns the shaft to the previous setting, ensuring the product size remains consistent without operator intervention. This automation increases crusher availability by 15% and extends liner life by ensuring the machine always runs at its optimal power range.
