In traditional earthwork compaction, operators typically set the vibration frequency to a fixed value (e.g., 30 Hz). However, as the soil density increases during the rolling process, its "natural frequency" changes. If the roller's vibration frequency does not match the soil's natural frequency, energy transfer efficiency drops, leading to shallow compaction depth and wasted fuel.
The Resonance-Tracking system integrates an "Accelerometer" on the drum frame and a "Stiffness Calculator" in the ECU. The system monitors the "Bounce" (amplitude) of the drum. When the drum hits a hard spot or a compacted layer, the reaction force changes. The system analyzes this feedback and automatically adjusts the hydraulic flow to the vibration motor, varying the frequency between 28 Hz and 35 Hz.
The engineering core is the "Auto-Resonance Logic." The system scans for the frequency that produces the maximum drum acceleration (optimal energy transfer). It locks onto this frequency until the soil density reaches the target value (detected by the increase in reaction force). At this point, the system automatically lowers the amplitude to "Gentle Mode" to prevent "over-compaction" (which can crush the aggregate or create surface cracks). Additionally, the system features a "Jump-Start Prevention." If the sensor detects the drum is starting to bounce violently (losing contact with the ground), the system instantly reduces the centrifugal force, stabilizing the machine. This closed-loop control increases compaction efficiency by 25% and reduces vibration damage to the machine's frame and operator cab.
