LiuGong Unveils “Intelligent Material-Paving” System for CLG509A Pavers

Aug 08, 2026

LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. has officially launched the "Intelligent Material-Paving" system for its CLG509A mid-range asphalt pavers. In traditional paving, the uniformity of the asphalt mix is critical for the road's lifespan. However, segregation (where large aggregates separate from fine sand) often occurs at the screw feeder (auger) level due to uneven material levels. This creates weak spots in the road that absorb water and crack prematurely.

The new system integrates a "Matrix of Ultrasonic Sensors" across the width of the screed. These sensors monitor the height of the asphalt material in front of the screed in real-time. The data is fed into an "Adaptive Auger Controller." If the sensor detects the material level is too low on the left side, the controller instantly increases the rotational speed of the left auger screw, drawing more mix to that side.

The core engineering innovation is the "Variable Pitch Logic." Traditional augers run at a fixed speed. LiuGong's system uses a hydraulic motor with an electronic displacement control. It varies the auger speed not just based on volume, but also on the "Temperature Viscosity Index" of the mix. If the mix is hot and fluid, the auger runs slower to prevent splashing. If the mix is cooling and viscous, the auger runs faster to prevent "arching" (blockages). Additionally, the system features an "Anti-Segregation Gate." When the paver stops, the system automatically reverses the auger for 2 seconds to clear the accumulation at the gate, preventing the "dead zone" pile-up that usually causes thermal segregation during restarts. This system reduces material segregation by 40% compared to manual operation.
