LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. has introduced the "Silent-Pave" system for its CLG509A and CLG520 series asphalt pavers. With urban road maintenance increasingly moving to night shifts, noise pollution from machinery has become a major regulatory constraint. Traditional pavers run their engines at a fixed high speed to ensure hydraulic power, regardless of the actual load.
The Silent-Pave system utilizes a "Load-Sensing Power Matching" architecture. The system uses a variable displacement main pump linked to an electronic engine. An ECU monitors the required torque for the auger drive and the traction drive. When the paver is moving on a flat surface with a thin lift (low load), the system automatically reduces the engine speed to 1500 RPM (from 2100 RPM) and adjusts the pump displacement to maintain flow.
The core engineering feature is the "Variable Frequency Screed Vibration." The screed uses an electric vibratory system rather than a traditional hydraulic one. This allows for precise frequency control between 0 Hz and 60 Hz. The system features a "Resonance Avoidance" algorithm. It sweeps the vibration frequency to find the point of maximum compaction efficiency (resonance). Once found, it locks onto that frequency. Crucially, if the frequency happens to match the natural frequency of the surrounding buildings (which could cause structural vibration), the system automatically shifts the frequency by 2-3 Hz to avoid resonance. This intelligent control reduces noise levels by 8 decibels and fuel consumption by 15%, making it ideal for hospital and school zone construction.
