Case Construction Equipment has introduced the "Smart-Flow" hydraulic management system for its SV300 series vertical-lift skid steer loaders. Running high-flow attachments, such as forestry mulchers or cold planers, demands maximum hydraulic flow. In traditional skid steers, when the operator simultaneously raises the boom and runs the attachment, the fixed-displacement pump struggles, causing the engine to lug and the attachment to stall.
The Smart-Flow system replaces the traditional fixed gear pump with a "Load-Sensing Electronic Proportional Valve Block." The engineering core is the "Closed-Loop Flow Sharing Algorithm." The system continuously monitors the pressure drop across the boom and attachment spools. If the operator commands a boom raise while the mulcher is cutting, the controller dynamically reallocates flow. It prioritizes 100% flow to the attachment to maintain drum RPM, and simultaneously reduces the boom raise speed proportionally.
The breakthrough is the "Engine Torque Protection Map." The system interfaces with the engine ECU via a J1939 CAN-bus. If the engine RPM begins to drop below its torque peak (indicating an impending stall), the system instantly de-strokes the hydraulic pump by 10%, relieving the load before the engine stalls. Furthermore, the system features "Attachment Auto-Recognition." When an operator connects a high-flow attachment, the quick-coupler block reads an RFID tag on the attachment plug. The system automatically loads the correct flow and pressure limits for that specific tool, preventing damage from incorrect manual settings.
