XCMG Unveils “Intelligent Mast Control” for XR Series Rotary Drilling Rigs

Aug 15, 2026

XCMG Piling Machinery Division has officially launched the "Intelligent Mast Control" system for its XR400E and XR500E series large rotary drilling rigs. In the construction of bridge piers and high-rise foundations, the verticality of the pile hole is critical. Even a 1-degree deviation at a depth of 50 meters can cause significant structural stress. Traditional rigs rely on the operator manually adjusting the mast cylinder, which is slow and subjective.

The new system introduces a "Dual-Axis Inclinometer" mounted directly on the mast box. This sensor provides real-time feedback on the X (fore/aft) and Y (left/right) tilt angles to the machine's ECU. The engineering innovation is the "Automatic Verticality Correction Logic." When the operator engages the "Auto-Level" mode, the system takes over the mast cylinders. It pulses the "Proportional Hydraulic Valves" to extend or retract the cylinders, adjusting the mast angle in increments of 0.1 degrees until the sensor reads exactly 0.00°.

Furthermore, the system features "Ground Settlement Compensation." As the rig drills deeper, the massive weight of the machine (200+ tons) can cause the ground to settle slightly, skewing the mast. The system monitors the "Chassis Frame Leveling Sensor." If chassis tilt is detected, the system automatically triggers the "Crawler Jacking Cylinders" to re-level the machine, and then re-adjusts the mast to vertical. This dynamic, closed-loop control ensures that the drilling depth accuracy is maintained within H/200 (where H is depth), significantly reducing rework costs for foundation contractors.
