Hyster Expands UT Line and Extends Reaction Safety Technology Across Higher-Capacity Electric Forklifts

Oct 03, 2026

Hyster has been broadening its forklift portfolio along two converging tracks: capacity expansion in the UT (Utility) line, and proliferation of its Reaction safety technology across more models. On the capacity side, Hyster introduced two new configurable, cost-effective UT forklifts covering the 8,000- to 15,500-pound load range - filling the gap between standard warehouse counterbalance trucks and heavy-duty container handlers. These models are engineered for the "yard" environment Hyster is known for, with an unbreakable-style chassis design intended to handle vibration, debris, and outdoor dock work, while remaining configurable so buyers only pay for the features their duty cycle actually requires.

On the technology side, Hyster Reaction - an Edison Award-winning operator-assist package - adjusts forklift performance in real time based on location, speed, and operator input, reinforcing safe operating behavior without relying solely on operator discipline. Reaction has now been extended into the brand's electric lineup, including models like the E80XNL, bringing operator-sensing, speed management, and access-control features to lithium-ion-powered trucks that previously shipped as simpler electric units. The company's XTLG lithium-ion series further bridges indoor and outdoor applications, offering up to 34 percent better through-mast visibility, an available weatherproof cabin, large superelastic tires, and high ground clearance for yard ramps and uneven aprons. Together, the UT expansion and Reaction proliferation position Hyster to serve mixed fleets that run the same truck from a covered loading dock out onto an open yard - an operating profile where traditional indoor electric forklifts historically fell short.
