Putzmeister has launched the "Auto-Level" intelligent outrigger deployment system for its BSF 62 series 5-section concrete boom pumps. In crowded urban concrete pours, finding a perfectly level setup position for a 62-meter boom is a constant logistical bottleneck. Traditional pumps require operators to manually stack steel cribbing pads beneath the outrigger floats, and setting up on a 5-percent cross-slope risks catastrophic chassis twist and boom roll-over during the high-pressure concrete pumping cycle.
The Auto-Level system integrates dual-axis inclinometers into the machine's main chassis frame. The engineering breakthrough is the "Independent Jack-Leg Stroke Algorithm." The operator simply deploys the front and rear outriggers to the ground. The ECU instantly reads the chassis tilt and autonomously commands the individual outrigger hydraulic cylinders to extend differentially. It physically lifts the low-side corners of the pump chassis until it achieves a perfectly level attitude, requiring zero operator joystick modulation.
Furthermore, the system features "Subgrade Settlement Compensation." During a 4-hour continuous concrete pour, if the soft backfill dirt beneath a front-right outrigger settles, the inclinometer detects a 0.5-degree deviation. The system automatically re-extends that specific jack-leg cylinder to restore level, preventing the boom from twisting and generating dangerous structural stress. This autonomous leveling allows safe deployment on gradients up to 15 percent and reduces job-site setup time by 30 minutes per pour.
