Clark Material Handling has introduced the "Stabili-Lift" active stability system for its CG50S series 48V electric reach trucks. In high-bay narrow aisle warehouses, operators frequently travel with a 2.5-ton pallet elevated above 3 meters to clear floor obstructions. At this height, a slight steering correction or a wet floor patch can cause the rear of the truck to pivot outward, leading to a violent lateral tip-over. Traditional safety systems simply derate the truck's capacity at height, limiting the load to 1.2 tons, which cripples warehouse throughput.
The Stabili-Lift system replaces the standard rear steer axle with an "Electro-Hydraulic Axle Lockout." The engineering breakthrough is the "Dynamic Center-of-Gravity Recalibration." When the mast is elevated above 3 meters with a full load, the system instantly engages a high-pressure locking valve, hydraulically freezing the rear steer axle to the chassis. This prevents the rear of the truck from pivoting and eliminates the pendulum effect.
Furthermore, the system features "Dynamic Fork-Retract Logic." If the truck is traveling with a 2.5-ton load at 4 meters and the operator initiates a sharp turn, the ECU detects the lateral force spike via a chassis-mounted IMU. In milliseconds, the system automatically retracts the reach mechanism by 150 millimeters, pulling the heavy load's center of gravity closer to the truck's center of mass. This active CG management prevents tip-overs without reducing the truck's 2.5-ton rated capacity at height, allowing operators to safely travel with loads elevated at maximum speed.
