Schwing Introduces “Pumping-Rhythm” Adaptive Control for SP 63 Concrete Pumps

Schwing Stetter has launched the "Pumping-Rhythm" adaptive control system for its SP 63 series truck-mounted concrete pumps. Pumping concrete to heights exceeding 200 meters is challenging. As concrete travels up the boom, the "slump" (flowability) changes due to pressure and friction. If the concrete becomes too thick (low slump) and the pump continues at high speed, the friction can exceed the pump pressure, causing a pipeline blockage.

The Pumping-Rhythm system utilizes a "Hydraulic Differential Pressure Sensor" across the concrete pistons. By measuring the force required to push the concrete, the ECU calculates the "Apparent Viscosity" of the material. The engineering breakthrough is the "Dynamic Stroke-Rate Logic." If the system detects a sudden increase in material viscosity (e.g., a batch of stiff concrete enters the hopper), the controller instantly reduces the engine speed and the pump's stroke frequency.

This "slowing down" allows the concrete to deform and flow around the pipe bends without compacting into a plug. If the pressure continues to rise toward the critical blockage threshold (approx. 80 bar), the system triggers an "Anti-Block Pulse." It momentarily reverses the pumping direction (sucking the concrete back slightly) to release the pressure lock, then resumes forward pumping at a lower speed. Additionally, the system features a "Piston Lubrication Optimizer." It monitors the stroke rate and adjusts the water box lubrication flow to the piston cups, ensuring optimal seal cooling without diluting the concrete.
