Bobcat Unveils “RogueX2” Autonomous Concept Loader for Hazardous Environments

Jul 11, 2026

Bobcat has revealed the RogueX2, a next-generation concept loader designed to operate fully autonomously or via remote control in environments deemed too dangerous for human operators. Unlike traditional loaders that are retrofitted with sensors, the RogueX2 is built on a clean-sheet architecture that removes the physical cab entirely. This allows for a symmetrical design with a 360-degree turning radius, enabling the machine to work efficiently in confined tunnels or inside collapsing structures without needing to turn around.

The propulsion system is entirely electric, powered by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack located in the base of the chassis for a low center of gravity. The machine features a "Silent Mode" operation, which is crucial for night-time urban demolition projects where noise regulations are strict. The engineering highlight is the machine's perception system. It utilizes a fusion of LiDAR, radar, and thermal cameras to create a 3D point cloud of the surroundings. This data is processed by an on-board AI that identifies potential hazards-such as falling debris or unstable ground-and automatically adjusts the machine's path or stops operation. The hydraulic system is a "closed-center" load-sensing design with electro-proportional valves, allowing the remote operator to have the same "feel" and precision as if sitting in the seat, without the lag typically associated with remote hydraulic control.
