Crown-RWFC Deployments of TSP 6000/6500 VNA Turret Trucks Expand Man-Up Order Picking in Very Narrow Aisle High-Bay Warehouses

Oct 05, 2026

Crown Equipment's TSP 6000 and TSP 6500 series Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) turret trucks continue to define the upper end of high-density warehousing equipment, targeting distribution centers and cold-storage facilities where every square meter of racking footprint must be maximized. Unlike conventional reach trucks that require 2.8-to-3.2-meter aisles, the TSP series operates in aisles as narrow as 1.6 meters - but achieves this only through a fundamentally different mechanical approach.

The TSP's defining feature is the "Turret Head Assembly" - a rotating fork carriage mounted at the top of the mast that can pivot the forks a full 180 degrees left or right while the truck remains stationary in the aisle centerline. This allows the operator to place or retrieve pallets from racks on either side of the aisle without turning the truck, and simultaneously perform "man-up" order picking from the integrated operator platform that elevates with the load. The engineering breakthrough is the "Turret Rotation with Load Compensation": as the turret rotates a loaded pallet through 180 degrees at the top of a 14-meter lift, the off-center load mass creates a significant bending moment on the mast. Crown's design integrates "Turret Load-Balancing Cylinders" that hydraulically counter-rotate a counterweight element within the turret head, canceling the lateral bending moment and preventing mast deflection that would otherwise cause the load to swing or contact racking.

Aisle navigation on the TSP uses a "Wire Guidance System" - a low-voltage guide wire embedded in the warehouse floor that the truck's guidance sensor tracks, providing automatic centerline control in the narrow aisle. This frees the operator to focus on load handling and order-picking rather than steering. Combined with rack-height detection, integrated pallet-clamp handling for non-standard loads, and the optional "MonoLift Mast" that uses a single central channel rather than dual side channels to maximize operator sightlines through the mast at full elevation, the TSP series addresses the exact use case where manual order picking from high-bay racking was previously either unsafe or unproductive.
