Doosan (Develon) DX250LC-7 Positions as Mid-Class Excavator Flagship with Smart Power Control and Multiple Working Modes

Oct 06, 2026

Doosan (now branded Develon) continues to position the DX250LC-7 as the anchor machine in its -7 series 25-ton crawler excavator lineup, targeting mass excavation, utility trenching, quarry work, and general construction where the 25-ton class represents the volume sweet spot for contractor fleets. The DX250LC-7 is powered by Doosan's DL06 Stage V diesel engine, delivering approximately 124 kW net output and 82 kgf·m of peak torque, paired with the company's proven hydraulic architecture that balances digging force with fuel efficiency across varying load conditions.

The machine's "Smart Power Control" system is the central fuel-efficiency technology, intelligently managing engine RPM and pump torque in response to the operator's working demands. The SPC system operates across four working modes - Heavy, Standard, Light, and Utility - each calibrated for specific duty cycles. Heavy mode delivers maximum hydraulic power for hard-rock excavation and dense clay work; Standard mode balances power and fuel efficiency for general digging; Light mode reduces engine RPM and hydraulic flow for low-intensity grading and finishing work; and Utility mode optimizes for extended travel and low-duty operation. This mode-based approach allows the DX250LC-7 to deliver fuel savings of up to 10 percent over the previous -5 generation, without compromising on cycle time or dig force where the operator actually needs it.

The DX250LC-7 also benefits from Doosan's -7 series cab design - featuring improved visibility, an air-suspended operator seat, an enhanced climate-control system, and an upgraded cab filtration package for dusty environments. Standard auxiliary hydraulic circuits support a wide range of attachments, and the machine's boom and arm design - with standard configurations including a 5,700 mm boom and 2,400 mm arm - provides digging depth of over 6 meters and reach approaching 10 meters, placing it in the core of the 25-ton class performance envelope. Combined with Doosan's reputation for mechanical simplicity and parts availability, the DX250LC-7 positions itself as a value-focused alternative to Caterpillar 330, Komatsu PC220, and Hitachi ZX250 machines in the global mid-class excavator market.
