LiuGong Machinery has launched its new F-Series excavator range globally, replacing the previous F-series predecessor lineup with a fully redesigned electro-hydraulic control architecture across models from 13 to 90 tons. At the core of the upgrade is a new "Smart-Work" electronic control system that replaces the previous mechanical-hydraulic valve actuation with electronically controlled proportional valves on every main control valve section. This architecture allows the onboard controller to dynamically manage pump displacement, valve spool position, and engine RPM as a single integrated control loop-delivering faster cycle times, reduced fuel consumption, and smoother compound movements that traditional load-sensing hydraulic systems cannot match.
The engineering breakthrough is the "Closed-Loop Pump Flow Control." In conventional excavators, the main pump's displacement is controlled by the operator's joystick input (which modulates the pilot pressure). In the F-Series, the joystick input goes to the electronic controller, which then commands the pump's regulator electronically based on the real-time flow demand, the engine's available torque, and the load pressure measured across the main control valves. This closed-loop approach allows the system to deliver exactly the flow required by the operator's input, with no over-delivery that would be wasted as heat at the main relief valve.
The F-Series also features "Adaptive Working Modes" that allow the operator to select from Heavy, Standard, Fine, and Boom-Float modes. Each mode adjusts the system's maximum pump pressure, engine RPM curve, and hydraulic flow priority. In Heavy mode, the system delivers maximum dig force for hard-rock excavation. In Fine mode, the system limits the pump's maximum flow and smooths the valve response for delicate work such as pipe-laying or precision grading. Combined with LiuGong's new cab design offering 30 percent increased legroom and standard auxiliary hydraulics across all models, the F-Series delivers a 10 percent reduction in fuel consumption and a 15 percent improvement in cycle time compared to the previous generation.
