Shantui has released its latest generation of SR series single-drum vibratory rollers equipped with the "Intelligent Compact" system. In traditional soil compaction, operators rely on experience or manual spot-checks to determine if the soil has reached the required density. This often leads to inconsistent results-some areas are under-compacted, leading to settlement, while others are over-compacted, crushing the aggregate and wasting fuel.
The Intelligent Compact system utilizes an "Acceleration Stiffness Sensor" mounted on the vibratory drum. This sensor detects the rebound acceleration of the drum upon impact with the ground. This data is mathematically correlated with the soil's stiffness modulus (Ev2 value). The system displays a "Compaction Heat Map" on the in-cab monitor, showing the operator exactly which areas have reached the target density in real-time.
From an engineering perspective, the key innovation is the "Automatic Vibration Control." The system is linked to the engine ECU and the hydraulic pump. When the sensor detects that the ground stiffness has reached the target threshold, the system automatically reduces the vibration amplitude or stops the drum entirely. This prevents the "bouncing" effect that occurs when a roller continues to vibrate on hard ground, which causes severe damage to the drum bearings and frame. Furthermore, the system logs the GPS coordinates of every pass, generating a digital construction report that can be downloaded for quality assurance, providing full traceability for the project owner.
