Hangcha Group has released a new series of "Lithium-Integrated" heavy-duty internal combustion (IC) replacement forklifts, specifically designed for the steel and concrete industries. Traditional IC forklifts in these environments suffer from high fuel costs, exhaust fumes, and complex transmission maintenance. Hangcha's new solution uses a high-voltage (80V) lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery architecture with a proprietary "Active Thermal Management" system.
Heavy-duty applications often involve short, high-current bursts (starting and stopping with heavy coils). This generates massive heat in the motor and battery. Hangcha's innovation lies in the "Liquid-Cooled Drive Motor." The AC drive motor is enclosed in a water jacket. A small electric pump circulates coolant through the motor and then through a heat exchanger in the battery pack. This keeps both the motor and battery at optimal temperatures even during triple-shift operations.
Furthermore, the system features "Impact-Resistant Battery Mounting." In steel mills, forklifts often drive over curbs and rails. The battery pack is mounted on a heavy-duty rubber isolation block that absorbs vertical shocks, protecting the battery cells from mechanical stress. The charger is an "Opportunity Charge" design. Operators can plug in the truck during 10-minute breaks to recover 10% capacity. This eliminates the need for battery changing rooms and spare batteries, reducing the total cost of ownership by 40% compared to diesel forklifts in heavy-cycle applications.
