Sany Heavy Industry has officially launched the "Matrix-Eye" intelligent 3D scanning system for its new generation of SY215C medium excavators. Traditionally, 3D guidance systems were reserved for large mining machines or required complex, roof-mounted external sensors. The Matrix-Eye system integrates a high-precision LiDAR sensor and a stereo camera directly into the top of the cab, creating a seamless, protected package.
The core engineering innovation is the "Dynamic Trajectory Prediction" algorithm. The system does not merely show the operator where the bucket is; it calculates the future path of the bucket teeth based on the current speed and angle of the boom, arm, and bucket cylinders. This predicted path is overlaid on the live camera feed on the in-cab monitor. If the system predicts that the bucket tip will collide with an obstacle (like a wall or a pipe) within the next 3 seconds, it automatically slows the hydraulic flow to the relevant cylinders and triggers a haptic vibration in the joystick.
Furthermore, the system features "Object Classification Logic." The stereo camera uses deep learning to identify different materials. It can distinguish between a pile of soil (which can be dug through) and a concrete structure or steel pipe (which is an obstacle). If the bucket approaches a classified obstacle, the system triggers an "Auto-Stop" command. This technology is crucial for urban renewal projects where operators must work in confined spaces with invisible underground utilities. The system reduces the risk of "over-digging" or striking buried pipes by 90%, significantly lowering insurance costs and project downtime.
